GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 18th March, 1924.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt

of the Duke of Devonshire's despatch No.356 of the 22nd of

December and to state that the maintenance order made against

Mr. H. R. Edmondson has been duly registered in this Colony.

Mr. Edmondson's salary as en officer on the

S.S. *Tai Ming" amounts to $180 a month and he states that

he has no other means. He has agreed to pay $100 a month

in satisfaction of the judgment, and in the circumstances

it seems repsonable to accept this arrangement.

I enclose a draft for £11. 14s. 10d. being

the equivalent of the first payment of 100 made by him, and

I shall be glad if this may be forwarded to the Clerk of the City Police Court, Dale Street, Liverpool. Further draft

will be sent as payment is made.

I also enclose a letter from Mr. Edmondson

with regard to the state of his finances.
